When Vee discovers Hunter used to be the Golden Guard, she gets upset and refuses to speak to him. But since neither of them have anywhere else to go, they're stuck navigating an extremely difficult relationship.
It doesn't help that Hunter is keeping a secret from her.
After the defeat of Belos, Luz Noceda was displaced in time and space, ending up in New Orleans during the 1920s. Decades later, Amity Blight manifests in Hell and reunites with Luz, who now goes by the name Alastoria. Together they must work with Charlie, the daughter of Lucifer, to save Hell from the threat of extermination by Heaven’s exorcist army.
Ever since Hunter became an unwilling inhabitant of the Human Realm along with his friends, a worrying truth nagged at the back of his mind: He did not have access to his anti-epileptic potions.
He had hoped his brain would be merciful enough to let everyone settle into their new normal before he had to disclose his condition. But of course, it had to make itself known (only a week into their stay) with a seizure.
A bad one.
The Noceda family has been followed by tragedy for years. After too many death anniversaries clumped together in a singular month, Luz and Vee are anxious to finally leave August behind them.
Hunter Wittebane hasn’t felt fully happy since he was 7. Plagued by loss, abuse, and an unstable living situation throughout the Bible Belt, he feels weird being back in his hometown after nearly a decade.
One fateful bus ride brings the trio together.
