For the most part, John accepted this as part of living with Sherlock. He knew what he signed up for; in fact it was the reason he stayed. The excitement, the adrenaline: it was what he needed to breath. It brought him back to life, and he was grateful for it, even if there were a few too many close calls then he cared to think about.
