AU in which Smaug never happened: Thror arranges Thorin's marriage to a hobbit. Thorin isn't entirely sure what a hobbit is. Written for a prompt on the Hobbit Kink Meme.

"Not so much sent to retrieve as to convince." Bilbo never expected to find the dwarves on his front step again and yet here are three asking him to return to Erebor with them when all that awaits him is pain. He took Thorin's words to heart and he refuses to set foot in the Lonely Mountain again. But what the King wants, he gets. And thats how Bilbo ended up returning to Erebor, for a... short visit that somehow becomes quite long. There might also be some magical intervention in the midst of it all.

Because the belief that Hobbits grew their babies in a cabbage patch had to come from somewhere. “What’s on your wrist, Bella?” Tauriel asked from her place at the dining table when Bél walked past her, nodding toward Bella’s right side. Bella frowned and looked down at her right hand and then her mouth fell open in shock. Printed on the inside of her wrist, directly underneath her palm, plain as daylight, was a circlet of lily-shaped blossoms connected by an emerald green vine.

Let’s just assume Thrain spent a good decade or three more on his wanderings before being killed by Sauron. On one of her adventures Belladonna Baggins has a torrid affair with a batty old dwarf who claims he is the rightful king of some long-lost mountain. It was jolly good fun, but she has a smial waiting for her back home with her husband inside. Bungo, bless his heart, takes the news of her pregnancy by another man, err- dwarf, in good stride. And when their son is born, well, he has Bungo’s chin, doesn’t he? The neighbourhood certainly doesn't need to know that her Bilbo isn't a Baggins, let alone an actual Hobbit. And his feet are furry (just slightly so) and his ears are pointed (just a bit rounder than normal) and he eats like any Hobbit would. It's just that sometimes, when he corrects her on her history or spends hours weaving the tale of some mountain kingdom and manages the other fauntlings like he is some sort of princeling, that Belladonna thinks that the only odd thing about her son is how he seems old beyond his years.

Bilbo Baggins had been a young, lonely hobbit when he fell in love with a blacksmith who came to the Shire looking for work. But then the dwarf left, swift as a summer breeze, leaving Bilbo with more than just a broken heart to remember him by… Twenty six years later, Thorin Oakenshield returns to Bag End to hire a burglar and finds an unexpected son instead.

Harry chooses to take a path away from the worlds he knows into a realm that it turns out he's experienced before. As Harry steps through the portal he realizes he's been a part of the world in his past and he's about to make sure that the one who caused his pain and killed his father figure would not survive what is to come. He'll make changes for the Whole of Middle Earth with his arrival back into the world he once knew and no one will realize just how much. But will he find the peace and love that he desires? It's been thirty five years since the Battle of Five Armies which left Bilba exiled from Erebor. Now a lone figure stands nervously at the gates, unsure as to the welcome she is to receive. For the rest of Thorin's Company, things are about to get turned upside down.

Bella Baggins sacrificed herself to save the Shire when the dragon Smaug attacked. He used her to repair Erebor with her Hobbit abilities to fix broken things. When Thorin and his Company come to reclaim Erebor, there is no dragon, only a cursed Hobbit with golden dragon scales embedded in her skin. Bagginshield. Fem!Bilbo. Dragon AU. TW: Smaug is sadistic. He is emotionally, mentally, and physically abusive. Some suicidal thoughts and actions.

The scholars, historians, and budding scientists of Middle-Earth literally froth at the mouth trying to determine just where new dwarfs come from in a population that seems to be entirely male. Do they spring from holes in the ground? Do they carve them out of stones? Do they have some disgusting and painful sounding process where the men give birth? The dwarves aren't talking... They're too busy laughing their butts off over the situation!
